Buck Thornton, also known as "Six Feet Four," arrives at the Drytown Hotel shortly after it has been robbed by a man of Buck's description. Buck protects Winifred Waverly, a young woman who has just arrived from the East, while she takes money to her uncle, Henry Pollard. While Buck feeds the horses, Winifred is robbed by a masked man, and once again Buck is suspected. At the robbery site, Buck finds a spur rowel, which is later traced to Ben Broderick. Broderick, Pollard and sheriff Cole Dalton are the real thieves, and when Deputy Marshall Two-Hand Billy Comstock hears that the three are going to hold up the stagecoach, he and Buck frustrate the plans. Buck finally shoots Broderick. Winifred and Buck find happiness together in the peaceful town.
