Ex-convict Maurice Norton is eager to reform, so when he begins a romance with Belle, a prostitute, they both pledge to help each other change their lives for the better. Then, Maurice's millionaire father, Stephen Norton, who had disowned his son years before, locates Maurice to ask his forgiveness and to offer to take him back home. The offer is not unconditional, however, as the old man insists that Maurice choose between his family and his sweetheart. Belle tries to convince him to go back with his father, but Maurice realizes that she is really sacrificing her own happiness for what she thinks will be best for him. As a result, for the first time, Maurice refuses to take advice from Belle, and so he marries her after sending his father home alone.
